Kaleidoscope
120cm X 150cm
Medium: Acrylic on linen.
A painting is never just a painting when created for a bigger cause. Since I was contacted to participate in the New Charis Mission Charity event, my mind was constantly buzzing with ideas and conceptions. The painting has to be personal to me and my audience. It needs to have Heart.
The piece started out plain black and white as the base colour. As the painting progressed, more colours and layers were added to create texture, shadows, and highlights. Apply blur and squee techniques; homemade giant squeegees, window cleaners, palette knives, and dough cutters were utilised. The painting comes together to symbolize how a man's life begins in black and white, but with God's grace brings forth colour and vibrance.
The Kaleidoscope is an interesting invention where small pieces of glass are positioned at an angle to create different mystical images of colour. In a kaleidoscope, though the glass is scattered, they are made to shine.
Signifying God's new man, what started as a broken person, shall arise as a "New Creation". A new creation that reveals the glory and grace of God.

I set my rainbow in the cloud and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.
